Fragrances, Recycling, Compost, & More!
What is your pet (and home) exposed to when a pet sitter stays over?
Tired of trying to explain allergies to people who don’t have the slightest idea what you’re talking about?
Well you’ve come to the right place. People with chemical sensitivities know how important, if not crucial, this element is to finding a sitter (and how difficult it can be to locate someone who truly understands!) I personally have many fragrance and chemical sensitivities. Products like scented detergents, fabric softeners, and perfumes often leave scents seemingly impossible to get out, lingering for days, sometimes weeks. (If these chemicals can make their way into your pet’s fur, they can certainly get into their bloodstream!)
I will not be bringing anything toxic into your home!
Toxic laundry detergents, softeners, dryer sheets
Xylitol products (extremely harmful to dogs)
Scented dish soaps, dishwasher tabs/liquid
Scented hand soaps, lotions, or perfumes
Toxic cleaners of any sort— I’m a vinegar/baking soda/castille soap kind of person!
Scented candles, incense
Febreze, Lysol, or other toxic air fresheners
Recycling, Compost, etc
I take recycling seriously. I am highly attentive as to what I am able/allowed to recycle in each community. If I am unable to recycle something locally, I am known to pack it back into my car and recycle it elsewhere. I am currently a member of TerraCycle and often collect hard-to-recycle items to ship to them for reusing. And I pay very close attention to the community’s Hard-2-Recycle events, often bringing styrofoam, tires, electronics, batteries, camping propane bottles, etc, to these!
As far as composting goes!!! I have composted at every available opportunity, over the past 15+ years! I slice up banana peels, avocado peels, remove stickers from produce, and avoid things like oils, dairy, and meat which can be bad for the pile. If you have a compost pile you’d like to keep working efficiently while you’re away, I am your person! I can turn it if needed and otherwise monitor it while you’re away. (How’s that for a pet-sitter!)
